After reading through an open letter purportedly written by one Gabriel Pidomson, a former governorship aspirant who serially failed to secure PDP nomination to contest for the office of the Governor of Rivers State , wherein he attempted to malign the political leader of Rivers State and FCT Minister, H.E Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, it became necessary that few words be extended to the writer of that ‘letter of hypocrisy’.
As a student of history in the politics of Rivers State, the name Gabriel Pidomson is not one that is difficult to pronounce, as he has always schemed his way to become relevant and benefit from ‘Any Government In Power’ AGIP, after every general election, including the governments he had earlier fought against their emergence.
I’m not surprise that Gabriel Pidomson is only doing what he does best after every electioneering year but hiding under the guise of an open letter to cast aspersions on the person of Chief Nyesom Wike, to win the heart of Gov Fubara may actually be a poorly scripted strategy, as the Governor himself isn’t unaware of the writer’s antecedents in River’s politics.
In one of his lines in that unfortunate letter , Gabriel Pidomson accused Chief Nyesom Wike of ‘overseeing political party primary elections across boards in 2022/23 that saw some candidates imprisoned and internal party democracy jettisoned just to have his wish’ and one would begin to ask if Gov Sim Fubara whom Gabriel Pidomson intends to impress with his ‘open letter of hypocrisy’ isn’t a product of the said primaries which the writer himself boycotted in protest against the choice of Gov Fubara as Nyesom Wike’s preferred successor ?
It is actually more hypocritical for Gabriel Pidomson to suddenly turn around to activate the same pen he constantly used against Gov Fubara before, during and after the 2023 general elections, this time against the man he accused of single-handedly anointing Gov Fubara as his successor, in a bid to as usual establish his relevance in Fubara’s administration.
If the writer think that Gov Fubara has forgotten and forgiven those who fought his emergence in 2023, including those who are currently parading themselves as his supporters, then he must be thinking anticlockwise because the Fubara that we have come to know doesn’t forget, let alone forgive.
Gabriel Pidomson is not actually doing anything differently from what he is known for, hence his letter may not get the attention it seeks.
We were all witnesses to how Gabriel Pidomson who earlier opposed Nyesom Wike’s emergence as Governor in 2015 later turned around to float the defunct Wike Solidarity Movement (WSM) , a political pressure group with which he gained relevance in the political space as it’s BOT chairman and made fortunes from Wike’s second term administration.
Unfortunately, Gabriel Pidomson’s open letter to Nyesom Wike is a work of hypocrisy and an attempt to remain relevant as usual with Any Government in Power (AGIP), with Gov Fubara as his main target at the moment.
Gabriel Pidomson asking Nyesom Wike to ‘leave Sim Fubara alone’ is one line in that letter that I find very difficult to understand, considering the fact that Nyesom Wike had since moved on and invested his time and energy in his national assignment in the administration of President Bola Tinubu, where he has kept the flag flying as the best performing minister within his one year in office, amidst the distractions from the likes of Pidomson.
May be I should inform Gabriel Pidomson that no single individual or group is holding Gov Fubara , It is rather the Governor’s disregard for the rule of law that is fighting back.
You can’t be a chief sponsor and promoter of illegality and lawlessness and expect to escape the wrath of the law.
Gov Fubara has repeatedly shown that he is not a respecter of the same rule of law he enjoyed from his nomination as the governorship candidate of the PDP in the 2023 general election which was vehemently opposed by Gabriel Pidomson and the Pro-Atiku/Amaechi political group, up till the Supreme Court where the Governor’s victory was upheld.
For a Governor who celebrated his Supreme Court victory with thanksgiving ceremonies across the 23 LGAs in Rivers State to deliberately and illegally appointed caretaker committees to head the local government councils against another order of the same Supreme Court which declared the appointment of CTC as illegal , then Gabriel Pidomson and his likes should have understood that a battle line had long been drawn between the Governor and the law, and by extension the people of Rivers State who are the direct victims of the Governor’s undemocratic activities.
Maybe I should draw the attention of Gabriel Pidomson to the fact that the crisis in Rivers State is currently between the Governor of Rivers State, H.E Sir Siminalayi Fubara and the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, not Nyesom Wike.
The world at large actually awaits, very patiently the result of the contest between Gov Fubara and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
It is most unfortunate that while Gov Fubara continued to disregard the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, Gabriel Pidomson and his likes had their biro misplaced, hence they couldn’t write a line either for or against the actions and inactions of the Governor with the fastest growing penchant for illegality.
If Gabriel Pidomson was a patriotic Rivers man, how come he couldn’t write a word when the Rivers State House of Assembly was shamefully set ablaze and demolished?
Where was Gabriel Pidomson’s biro when Rivers State funds were expended without an appropriation, after six months into the Governor’s administration?
How come Gabriel Pidomson couldn’t write a line when court judgements and presidential resolutions were flagrantly disregarded, and lawlessness promoted by the government of the day?
What color of biro is Gabriel Pidomson using to write his way into the heart of Gov Fubara who writes with a red biro, that has given him the assurance of Fubara’s genuine forgiveness, after working against the Governor’s emergence ab initio?
I’m very sure Gov Fubara already knows that Gabriel Pidomson would be among the very first set of persons within his Simplied Political Group to declare their intention to contest the 2027 governorship election against the governor.
Little wonder why Gabriel Pidomson’s proposal for the formation of a new group with the name; Sim Solidarity Movement as another conduit to suck from the present occupant of the Brick House is seriously being opposed by Gov Fubara’s close allies who are not unaware of the antecedents of the proposer .
Understandably, Gabriel Pidomson if given the approval to float his proposed group, plans to hold a formal inauguration/ press conference where he is expected to declare that the defunct Wike Solidarity Movement (WSM) had collapsed into the proposed Sim Solidarity Movement, with further plans of requesting for funds to organize LGA to LGA inauguration ceremonies with hired crowd , all in a bid to milk the state treasury.
Unfortunately, his plans had long been intercepted and neutralized by major players around Gov Fubara, hence he resorted to writing in hypocrisy to win the heart of the Governor, an action in futility.
So, no amount of written hypocrisy can change what the people already know about a writer who suddenly writes for a Governor he constantly wrote against his emergence, taking advantage of the political feud between a successor and his predecessor.
A harmless advice to Pidomson and others alike:
The road to 2027 is already being asphalted across political parties, it is therefore advisable for Gabriel Pidomson and other serial governorship aspirants around Gov Fubara to put on their helmets and get down to work , build a political structure to actualize their long term political ambition of becoming governor of Rivers State.
Gov Fubara himself should have by now identified those with hidden ambition around him but are currently singing praises of him to keep cashing out funds to sponsor their own ambition in 2027. Yes, Fubara knows that Gabriel Pidomson is one of such unfriendly friends.
The bitter truth is that a thousand open letters of hypocrisy can not surmount Nyesom Wike’s political structure in Gabriel Pidomson’’ home LGA (Gokana) , neither can they distract the shining light of Rivers people who has within one year in office as FCT minister distinguished himself with outstanding achievements in the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
If Gabriel Pidomson has anything to offer to Gov Fubara, especially in the ongoing battle between the Governor and the Law, let him lend his helping hands to the Governor and leave Nyesom Wike out of his ultimate search for recognition and relevance in AGIP.
Nyesom Wike is very busy in Abuja, replicating the wonders he performed in Rivers State as our Governor between 2015 and 2023….Gabriel Pidomson and others who cannot attain political relevance in Fubara’s administration without abusing Nyesom Wike should invest their time and energy into meaningful ventures that can bring glory to Rivers State , as Wike is proudly doing in Abuja.
