Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has set up a 9-man Flood Prevention and Management Committee.
The Deputy Governor, Prof. Mrs. Ngozi Nma Odu, serves as the Chairman of the committee.
Committee members include Chief Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo, Secretary to the State Government, and Chief Ilanmi Arugu, Commissioner for Social Welfare.
Engr Charles Amadi, Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs, and Dr. Sam Anya, Commissioner for Special Duties, are also part of the committee.
Other members are Dr. Roland Obed Whyte, Commissioner for Special Projects, and Warisenibo Joe Johnson, Commissioner for Information.
The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mrs. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh, and Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Sydney Gbara, complete the team.
The committee held its inaugural meeting on Monday, September 23, at the Deputy Governor’s office.
Their next meeting is scheduled for Friday at 2 pm, with the 18 impacted LGAs’ chairmen attending.
